I don't remember the last time I made a gratin; my prejudice against them is that they will be bland and stodgy (yes, I suppose this may be attributable to my English culinary upbringing). But this was delicious--the combination of yogurt, squash and bacon creates a delicious tangy-sweet-salty-flavour combination. Perfect fall-weather food (yes, it's finally fallen below 70 degrees here in L.A.)--don't wait till Thanksgiving to try it!

Oh yes, made without nuts but still marvellous. I love the idea of having this of one of my easy but delicous midweek specials, that knocks the socks off Avery's friends who all want to stay at our house for supper ... oh god when did I start fantasing about things like that? What's happened to my inner punk??
